I first saw adverts for Dhol Factory on Ebay and dholis.com forum. I clicked
on a few dhols and could only see one picture! Guys need to display more pictures
man! The dhols they sell are top quality!
I emailed Dhol Factory about requirements
I wanted the dhol to have and what they had to offer!
I was in real luck zone, since
I wanted a dhol shorter than the standard 25" punjabi dhol, and DF had a 24" one.
My current dhol has a circumference of 50" (which is pretty bulky) and I wanted a
smaller one, by at least 3 inches!
I only saw a few pictures of the dhol emailed to
me, never touched it!, played it, only saw what the dhol looks like and took DF word
for the dhol! And purchased the dhol!
So the dhol arrived today, and it was really
well packaged, like it's come straight from Freight! From the size of the box I was
really happy, because it was a small dhol! It's exactly how I wanted it to be!
I opened
the box and it was well taped and wrapped up thoroughly in bubble wrapping. After
taking the bubble wrapping off, The dhol was in a carry case all packed up. Now how
can I describe the dhol?
The dhol looked a ZILLION times better than what it looks
like in the pictures, it was exactly what I wanted it to be! The dhol barrell szie
wise. The treble tilli size was tuned to bloody perfection! When I say it was sharply
tuned, I mean it sounded sharp, strong and loud! The base had only recently been
put on the dhol, maybe prior to shipping, and will need to break that in slowly.
I adjusted the strap and I was ready to go! The quality of the tilli and the dagga
are also great!
Quality is what these guys should pride themselves for! Regardless
of the price I paid, what you get is a real high quality, finely tuned instrument,
that I'm sure you can pass down through generations!
I can now see exactly why, bhangra
musicians approach DF for their instruments! THe quality is top notch!
I've got to
say a big thank you to Dhol Factory for recommending me the dhol and also to let
fellow dholis, who are looking for another dhol, that these guys will NOT mess you
around, and will provide and recommend a dhol that suits your needs!
